Data Science in Government
CALL FOR SUBMISSION
The "Project Showcases - Data Science in Government" - Project is now open for applications!
​
Ministries of Foreign Affairs and other government institutions as well as multilateral organizations, development agencies, civil society organizations and academia are invited to share their groundbreaking projects and activities that utilize data science in the government context, such as foreign policy, negotiations, mediation, crisis preparedness, climate action, and more.​​
​
The submission deadline is 31 May 2025, with proposals being reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis until then. Submitters will be informed of the selection outcome and next steps within two weeks of submission. After the application is confirmed, participants will be invited to submit a 10-minute video showcasing their Data Science in Government Project. The selected projects will be featured on our website and YouTube channel, contributing to an open-access repository designed to inspire others and promote innovative solutions globally.​

To see examples of showcased projects visit presentations from participants of the Inaugural Foreign Policy and AI Forum 2024. These projects reflect a diverse range of creative applications of data science in addressing complex global challenges in MFAs and beyond.
How to Apply?
Submit your proposal with the following details:

Title: The name of your project.

Project Description: A brief overview (100–200 words) that includes:

What the project is about.
-
How data science was utilized in its implementation.

Key outcomes, lessons learned, and opportunities for scaling or replication.

Implementing Organization: Name and details of the submitting organization responsible for implementing the project.

Focal Point: Name and Surname, Title, Organization, Email

Recording of Presentations:

Each project will be showcased in a pre-recorded format.

Presentations should be up to 10 minutes long and delivered using PowerPoint

Content Structure: Presentations should include:

An introduction to the project or initiative.

The role of data science in achieving the project’s objectives.

Key outcomes and findings.
-
Lessons learned, highlighting both successes and challenges.

Opportunities for scaling or future use.
